Help Scott beat Leukemia, flt3 mutation and chromosome 8 mutation GoFundMe Boost ViralExposure EMWNews

On October 17, 2019 our dad Scott Nelson was diagnosed with Leukemia.  He was told he had an pneumonia and went to the ER for treatment. Little did we know it was Leukemia. His kidney were already in the process of shutting down, his lungs were not working properly, he had highly elevated white blood cell, phosphates and such low red blood cells he needed blood transfusion in CA and numerous since being in Utah.

We have moved him to Salt Lake City to the Huntsman Cancer Institute where he is getting the best care from one of the Nations cancer hospitals. He also has the best support group as his 5 children, brothers, cousins and friends are here to help.

They have done further testing and he has an aggressive form of *AML leukemia with *FTL3 mutation and *mutation of chromosome8. We have to wait another week to get the rest of the molecular buildup (DNA) of the Leukemia.

Yesterday he chose the most aggressive treatment option, that gives him the highest % of living. He will still need a bone marrow transplant after chemo, if he is strong enough.

His insurance will not cover all the costs and that is why our family is asking for your help. Every dollar helps. If you can’t donate please share because maybe one of your friends might be able to.

Thank you in advance.

*mutation  of chromosome 8-Chromosome 8, Monosomy 8p is a rare chromosomal disorder characterized by deletion (monosomy) of a portion of the eighth chromosome.

*FLT3 -Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a key role in cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells. It is frequently overexpressed in acute leukemias. FLT3 mutations occur in approximately 30% of AML patients and confer a poor prognosis.

AML leukemia-A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells.
AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
